Dirt walls of Stepan castle

In the 12-13 cent. Stepan was a principality centre. Today one can see the dirt walls of its castle up to 10 meters high. A small fragment of a former gate can be seen in the grass.

The fortress was surrounded by a deep ditch filled with water. There was also a pendant bridge. It was the only way to get to the castle.

The town water tower is the rebuilt castle’s tower.
