They took their oath, took pseudonyms instead of names, fought bravely for what they believed in, and went to their deaths to avoid capture. They had their own system, trophy weapons, strict discipline and well-thought-out military tactics. They created entire insurgent republics. They had their own agency, intelligence and counterintelligence. And fought a guerrilla war for 12 years. Their armed units were called the Ukrainian Insurgent Army. It originated in the local forests. Local veterans can tell about the battles that took place here, and also show the places where the rebels were sheltered.
