This monastery was founded by a prince who became the baptizer of Russia. When Volodymyr the Great traveled around the country, he saw a mountain and caves there. And he felt grace in that place. And he built two wooden churches there, and then built a princely tower. It became the winter residence of Vladimir the Great.
