The underground route. Labyrinths of Rivne and Lutsk

Where to go: Rivne-Lutsk (you can do the opposite)

You should take with you:

  • - adventurous mood;
  • - flashlight;
  • - adrenaline supply;
  • - the desire to wander the mazes (and not stay there);
  • - ten hryvnias.

Erich Koch's bunker… Underground tunnels that allegedly stretched from the vault to the runway with his personal plane… Assaults on the Reich Commissar, prepared by the legendary spy… Such semi-legendary stories and little-studied objects remained in Rivne after World War II. At that time the city was the capital of occupied Ukraine. And Erich Koch was appointed Reich Commissar. He was almost the only Nazi war criminal to escape the death penalty, and then spent 36 years in prison, which he himself once ordered to build.

Instead, you can see a spooky cell for medieval prisoners, accompanied by a guide in the dungeons of Lutsk. They are located under the Cathedral. These secret passages were built in the XV century. They were a lifeline when the city was besieged.

So if you are not afraid to wander through the mysterious labyrinths with ancient inscriptions on the walls, tombs of princes and solitary cells with an area of only half a meter, it is interesting to know what Erich Koch said, and visit not the amber room, but the museum of "sun stone", then this route is just for you.
